What is an OFAC Name Screen Alert?

OFAC Name Screen is an optional add-on service that alerts the user that the input name possibly matches a name on a list of individuals and entities that are prohibited by the U.S. Treasury from doing business in or with the United States. When the OFAC service is requested and a consumer's name matches an entry on the Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list, an OFAC Name Screen alert is returned. The user is advised to perform due diligence and verify whether the consumer is the individual on the U.S. Treasury's list. A user is contractually prohibited from treating the alert as a reason for declination or other adverse action.
