TYPES OF FRAUD ALERTS
There are three types of alerts you can place on your file – choose the one that’s appropriate for you.

Initial Fraud Alert
Need/interest:
You are concerned about becoming a victim of fraud/ID theft
Notes:
- Requires appropriate proof of identity and copy of the identity theft report
- Place with one CRC1; it will then notify the other 2 CRCs to place alert
- Entitles you to one free credit report at all 3 CRCs
1CRC = Credit reporting company, for example, TransUnion, Equifax and Experian
Notes:
- Requires copy of identity theft report
- Place with one CRC; it will then notify the other 2 CRCs to place alert
- Entitles you to 2 free credit reports at all 3 CRCs in first 12 months, then 1 per year thereafter at all 3 CRCs
