The FVAD works with consumers, credit grantors, law enforcement officials and other credit reporting companies to help investigate and prevent credit fraud. Since its inception in 1992, the FVAD has helped millions of people who are victims, or potential victims, of fraud.
When credit fraud occurs, you, your credit grantors and the credit reporting companies are all victims. Until the fraud is discovered, the fraudulently-opened accounts can appear on your credit report. The FVAD helps you identify fraudulent accounts, advises you of the creditors that need to be informed of the fraud, and works to remove fraudulent accounts from your credit file.
