TransUnion opens technology hub to aid global operations and drive innovation
In an exciting ribbon-cutting ceremony this June, TransUnion unveiled its latest global technology investment — a Global In-House Center (GIC) located in Chennai, India. With its rich culture and wealth of talent, India was a natural destination. The new, cutting-edge facility supports our operations across all lines of business and support functions. It’s flush with potential for furthering our mission, breaking new technological ground and enhancing our capabilities to help customers succeed at the highest level.
There are currently 350 employees working out of the GIC, with an expected 600 by early 2019. Retaining current talent already familiar with TU and committed to our mission and projects is a huge asset, as we were able to hire over 250 associates who already worked with us while at different service providers. We’re also able to offer associates expanded work opportunities to grow their careers. Also, through direct hiring we’re creating new job opportunities and have further established the TU brand in India beyond being associated with CIBIL, one of the country’s largest credit bureaus.
The GIC will strengthen our core as we develop new risk solutions, maintain the systems that protect our data and create the empowering consumer products of tomorrow. It will also accelerate these capabilities by allowing us to own the technology development process end-to-end. By relying less on third-party resources, we can quickly address market opportunities while protecting our intellectual property — which reduces overall risk and increases the opportunity to further innovate our tech proficiencies.
Equally important, the GIC enables us to provide even better global support — directly and in real time. We offer a round-the-clock service model with dedicated, talented and energetic associates eager to help. Now, together in a central location as TU associates with a genuine, vested interest, current and future hires can operate more efficiently and produce a truly agile development model. This effective and sustainable center will allow us to take our delivery and quality to the next level. It boosts our global operating model by supporting a range of services that directly impact our tactical capabilities and growth agenda.
The strategic importance of GICs is growing as they continue to add value to global enterprises like TransUnion, and in turn, to our customers. This is a strategic expansion of our technology footprint that plays a vital role in the value we bring to our customers, including the quality of offerings we deliver. This focus is what differentiates us from our competitors and opens up a wide range of opportunities for pioneering products and technology capabilities that will influence what we offer to our customers in the future.
Built upon a foundation of advanced technologies, uncompromising policies toward information security, business ethics and corporate governance, and delivering superior service, the GIC encapsulates the passion that fuels all we do. It also promotes and ensures a development process and culture aligned with our core beliefs of enabling stronger communities and thriving economies around the globe.
