We think about information as a tool to help people accomplish their goals. As a result of our work, we drive opportunity for businesses, health systems, economies and people around the world. To ensure that we remain vigilant stewards of data, we act with care and responsibility with the data we source, analyze and protect. At the center of our approach to data accuracy is the commitment to security and privacy, leveraging advanced technology, and an uncompromising stance toward information security, business ethics and corporate governance. With a strong emphasis on these frameworks and highly trained associates maintaining our systems, we’re able to protect data and deliver on the promise of our values: Information for GoodSM, and Security for Information.
These missions are delivered through our collaboration with many different partners, vendors, clients and customers who send and receive various types of information and analytics. A strong third-party security program is critical for ensuring the protection of information once it leaves our protected environment. Our continuous monitoring program not only applies internally, but to our third-party service providers as well. As part of our third-party program, TransUnion Enterprise Security Ratings Platform (SRP) gathers terabytes of data from security sensors around the world and provides insight to indicators of compromise, infected machines, improper configuration, poor security hygiene and harmful user behavior. The data is analyzed to determine the severity, frequency and duration of incidents and then mapped to known networks, resulting in an overall security rating for each selected organization.
With over 50 Petabytes of data from over 90,000 data sources, supporting everything from medical payment process, identify verification and protection, credit scores, credit card applications and continuous evaluation, Cyber Security is at the forefront of our mission. We’ve developed world-class technological capabilities to protect this data, much of it being Protected Health Information (PHI) or Personally Identifiable Information (PII). TransUnion’s Global Security Operations Center and Cyber Threat Intelligence Program work to thwart cyber-attacks, breaches and data losses. Our rigorous security measures help ensure the confidentiality, integrity and security of PHI data and compliance with HIPAA’s rules.
We realize information is a powerful thing, and we’re dedicated to finding innovative ways it can be used to help individuals and organizations make smarter decisions.
