Artificial Intelligence sits at the helm of technological advancements driving change across industries. Forms of this technology, such as machine learning, power TransUnion’s OneTru Platform, enabling us to provide a more accurate picture of consumers in the marketplace.
As the landscape continues to evolve, data privacy remains central to the conversation. In celebration of this year’s Data Privacy Week (January 27-31), TransUnion hosted an expert panel to share their insights on this topic at a recent Policy with Purpose event. TU’s Policy with Purpose series features diverse, external thought leaders discussing the nexus of public policy and business priorities.
TU President & CEO Chris Cartwright kicked off the event, underscoring TransUnion’s commitment to strong privacy standards across the business. TU Chief Privacy Officer Shoshana Gillers led the panel discussion alongside Nikki Bhargava, Partner at global law firm Reed Smith, and TU’s Michael Umlauf, Vice President, Data Science & Analytics. The conversation focused on the rapid rise of AI and large language models, and the risks and opportunities the technology presents.
The panel highlighted the need for companies to strike a balance between innovative practices and robust governance guardrails as AI technology evolves. Companies additionally remain responsible for keeping their employees informed on best practices and maintaining an understanding of how their technologies operate to safeguard against potential risks.
Data Privacy Week serves as a reminder of the role we play in empowering consumers through the responsible use of personal data. TransUnion is proud to celebrate Data Privacy Week and contribute to the work that makes trust possible in global commerce.
